Role of the NRPSN Sector Coordinator
Key Tasks and Activities
1. Onboarding and Support:
● Serve as the primary point of contact for guidance and support for all NRPSN members active or wishing to be active in their sector.
● Supporting members in using their pastoral care dashboard.
2. Initial Engagement and Development Planning:
● Proactive contact with new members to discuss their development plan, checklist, and specific support needs.
● Facilitating relevant activities to support members' growth, such as connecting them with networks or institutions, arranging shadowing or informal mentoring opportunities, and suggesting specialised training events.
3. Supporting members in approaching institutions and overcoming any problems. 3. Progress Review and Guidance for new members:
● Conducting a 1-2-1 three-month progress review with new members to check progress in finding a placement and address any challenges or questions they may have.
● Arranging a final 1-2-1 call three months after the progress review to finalise the development plan and checklist, ensuring members are well-prepared to progress in their non-religious pastoral care journey.
4. Peer Support and Networking:
● Maintaining contact with all NRPSN members in their sector to facilitate networking, informal peer support, and sharing of best practice, to foster a sense of community and provide additional peer support opportunities. This may be through virtual or in-person meetings, informal discussion groups, social activities, emails, or other means.
● Promoting resources on the Humanists UK pages, such as forums, hubs, and free courses.
● Providing guidance and facilitating these activities based on the SC's own field expertise.
5. Support for Members Awaiting Placement:
● Maintaining motivation and engagement for members going through security or training processes before beginning placements, including facilitating shadowing other members, visiting relevant institutions, attending field-specific events or conferences, participating in CPD opportunities, accessing clinical supervision resources on the HUK website, joining related support groups, and attending professional development days.
● As a Sector Coordinator, you will play a vital role in nurturing the growth and professional development of NRPSN members, ensuring they receive the support and guidance needed to excel in their non-religious pastoral care practice. We anticipate that each Sector Coordinator will be engaged with 15-25 individual practitioners who are already in practice, along with approximately 10 new practitioners each year. By leveraging your expertise and providing targeted assistance, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness and impact of the NRPSN network, empowering members to make a positive difference in the lives of those they support.
